PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox gamers will now be able to borrow video games from libraries on Vancouver Island.

Vancouver Island Regional Library has unveiled a new video game collection, according to a press release, and cardholders will have access to the “hottest video games in the market” beginning today, Nov. 1.

“We know that our customers are avid media consumers,” Emily Mathews, VIRL’s divisional manager of collections and support services, said in the press release. “Video games are wildly popular in our communities, particularly with Millennials and Generation Xers, and it is vital that we provide library content to complement their interests and passions. We are so excited to be offering this service.”

In addition to giving users access to video games, VIRL said it will also examine opportunities to provide “game-based programming” at its branches.
